Editorial: Words Are Easy - Actions Count.

By Len Monheit, NPIcenter
Over the past few weeks, I have had the opportunity to meet with industry leaders across both Canada and the United States to discuss industry’s current environment (business and legislative), prospects for the next twelve months, the behaviors of industry’s less savory colleagues, how to differentiate the good from the bad, what actions the good should take to ‘call out’ the bad, and issues surrounding international trade. My most recent opportunity was at the CRN conference this past week in Boston. Significantly (perhaps) CRN has announced a commitment to expand the review of dietary supplement advertising.

Executive Interview: Q&A with Jeffrey Blumberg, PhD
2006/08/03
- Interview by Frank Lampe and Suzanne Snyder • Photography by Jonathan Kinnair
Dr. Jeffrey Blumberg stands out as arguably the premier researcher studying nutrition and its impact on health and aging. He says that nutritional research should not be just a science, but also an agenda. His observations in this interview, conducted by our good friend Frank Lampe, along with Suzanne Snyder (managing editor of Alternative Therapies), as our guest interviewers, strike me as right on target, particularly Dr. Blumberg’s comments of how the media covers supplement news and why relying on what he refers to as ‘gold standard’ research (randomized controlled studies) for supplements is impractical and misguided. We offer this interview, which will also be in the September/October issue of Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine magazine, because it is information from which the dietary supplements industry can benefit. Read the Executive Interview

Frank Lampe is VP, Content Development, for InnoVision Health Media, the publisher of Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine. Suzanne Snyder is managing editor of ATHM.
