Thomas are delighted to announce that Dr. Vladimir Badmaev has accepted a joint appointment as Director of Scientific and Medical Affairs at Polifenoles Naturales and PLT. In this newly-established position, Dr. Badmaev will lead the new ingredient pipeline development of the strategic alliance between the two companies and of other PLT initiatives.
Dr. Badmaev received his MD and PhD (Immunopharmacology) in Poland and trained in clinical and anatomical pathology at Kings County Hospital and Downstate Medical Center, New York (1982-1985).
He recently completed 15 fruitful years at Sabinsa, where he strongly contributed to that company’s emergence as a leading innovator of science-based ingredients for the dietary supplement and pharmaceutical industries.
Dr. Badmaev is the author/coauthor of over 70 scientific and popular scientific articles, 13 books, 13 US and International patents and 9 successful IND applications with the FDA. His most recent distinction is as the 2009 recipient of the Thomas Alva Edison Award for being the inventor of the international patent “Bioavailable composition of natural and synthetic HCA”.
Dr. Badmaev published a book on Tibetan medicine entitled Healing Herbs describing efforts of five generations of physicians in his family in bringing Tibetan medicine and the derived pharmaceutical products to the West; his grandfather was the personal physician to the last Russian czar. In 1985, he established and is president of The Badmaev Natural Drug Foundation, where he serves as President; he has successfully introduced several Indo-Tibetan formulae into the international dietary supplement industries, and he will expand these efforts in his new position.
In 2009, Dr. Badmaev contributed a chapter on curcuminoids to Raymond Cooper’s and Fredi Kronenberg’s book Botanical Medicine: From Bench to Bedside. Dr. Badmaev has participated in the following Medical/Scientific Societies: The International Society of Immunopharmacology, The American Association of Clinical Pathologists, The American Medical Association, The Research and Development Council of New Jersey.
