The impact of omega-3 fatty acids on cardiovascular health will be the focus of the EPAX AS VendorWorks presentation at SupplySide West 2009. The seminar, "Update on Marine EPA/DHA Omega-3 for Cardioprotection," will be presented by omega-3 expert Professor Bruce Holub, Ph.D., from 9 - 9:50 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13 in the Venetian/Sands Expo room Galileo 901.
Dr. Holub will discuss the science supporting the heart-healthy benefits of marine-based eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Additionally, attendees will learn about the latest research showing EPA and DHA’s role in maintaining healthy blood triglyceride levels.
Dr. Bruce Holub is currently a university professor emeritus in the Department of Human Health & Nutritional Sciences at the University of Guelph in Canada. He also serves as scientific director for the DHA/ EPA Omega-3 Institute that provides evidence-based health and research information on marine-derived DHA/EPA. He holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Guelph and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Toronto. Dr. Holub's post-doctoral training was completed at the University of Michigan Medical School.
