Introducing Lingonol™ - A proprietary Lingonberry Extract Standardized to Proanthcyanidins
2009-11-02 - Cyvex Nutrition

Cyvex Nutrition has announced that its launching Lingonol™ -  lingonberry extract standardized to a minimum of 5% Proanthocyanidins known as PACs (mixture of proanthocyanidins A-type and B-type).

“Lingonol™ represents the quality distinction of its pure Scandinavian origins and its proprietary 5% Proanthocyanidin content, says Matt Phillips, President of Cyvex Nutrition.  This provides marketers with an opportunity to differentiate themselves with other extracts in the market.”

Lingonberry is a Scandinavian “superfruit” that has been shown to protect cells against oxidative stress, as well as to promote cardiovascular health and provide support against urinary tract infections.  Lingonberry contains polyphenols, anthocyanins, flavonols, phenolic acids, resveratrol, procyanidins, and is five times more concentrated in A-type proanthocyanidins than cranberry. Lingonberry additionally has a high-ORAC value (4610 μmol TE/g).  Lingonol™ available from Cyvex Nutrition is standardized to a high level of proanthocyanidin A-type (5%), which contributes to anti-adhesion activity against bacteria measured by the spectrophotometric method using DMACA reagent.

A study investigating this proprietary lingonberry ingredient and its effects on oxidative stress, inflammation and cardiovascular risks is currently being concluded, with results to be announced shortly.
