Gaia Herbs Introduces Resveratrol 150 Liquid Phyto-Caps™
2009-10-05 - Gaia Herbs

Gaia Herbs, a leading grower and manufacturer of natural and organic herbal products, introduces Resveratrol 150 Liquid Phyto-Caps™, delivering 150 mg of trans-Resveratrol per each two capsule daily serving, one of the highest concentrations in the market.

Resveratrol is a compound found in several foods and plants—including red wine, grapes, and peanuts. This compound is thought to be a source of some of the health-supporting benefits of red wine. Gaia Herbs uses sustainably harvested Japanese Knotweed as its ingredient base, delivering the most absorbable form of Resveratrol known as trans-Resveratrol. According to Dr. Keri Marshall, Medical Director of Gaia Herbs, “Not only is Japanese Knotweed more abundant from a sourcing perspective, but it is naturally concentrated to about 2-3% of the total root while a source like red wine (grape skin) is naturally concentrated to only about 0.3%.”

The natural abundance of Japanese Knotweed and its relatively high Resveratrol concentration allows Gaia Herbs to use less plant material, thus reducing the overall impact on the environment. Sourcing Resveratrol from Japanese Knotweed is consistent with Gaia Herbs’ mission for sustainable agriculture practices. The common alternative Resveratrol source, grapes, is one of the most pesticide-laden crops in the world with the majority of companies sourcing Resveratrol from the skin of non-organic grapes.

Gaia Herbs sustainable sourcing complements its commitment to supply pure and potent botanicals with integrity to the natural products channel. Only ecologically harvested Japanese Knotweed is used, and there are no artificial ingredients, binders, fillers, gelatin, or excipients added to these 100% vegetarian capsules. The extraction and production methods used ensure that two of Gaia Herbs Liquid Phyto-Caps™ deliver the convenience of a once-daily serving and the concentration of 150 mg of trans-Resveratrol, approximately the same amount found in 60 bottles of red wine.

Resveratrol 150 is available in a 50 count bottle with a suggested retail price of $19.99. Counter top displays are available and include 6 bottles.

Gaia Herbs is a certified organic grower and nationally-branded manufacturer of liquid herbal extracts based in Western North Carolina. The company cultivates 250 acres of medicinal herbs which, along with all operations at its 36,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility, are organically certified each year by Oregon Tilth under USDA’s National Organic Program. Gaia Herbs is a member of the American Botanical Council, the Natural Products Association, the American Herbal Products Association, United Plant Savers, the United Natural Products Alliance, and the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia plus other local organizations. Gaia Herbs’ line of all-natural herbal products is carried by independent health food retailers and co-ops, national and regional natural products retail chains, and healthcare professionals.
