French Meadow Bakery™ Launches Three Gluten-Free Breads
2009-10-05 - French Meadow Bakery

French Meadow Bakery™, a leading manufacturer of breads and bagels, tortillas and desserts in the all natural and organic foods market, has launched three new all natural breads: Gluten-Free Sandwich Bread, Gluten-Free Cinnamon-Raisin Bread and Gluten-Free Multigrain Bread.

The breads are Certified Gluten-Free by The Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), a program of the Gluten Intolerance Group™.  More information can be found at www.gfco.org or by calling (206) 246-6652.   Additionally, French Meadow Bakery is a proud sponsor of the Celiac Disease Foundation.

The new French Meadow Bakery breads are soft and moist.  In addition to offering a traditional bread texture and taste, the Gluten-Free Multigrain Bread in particular is a good source of fiber, which offers added nutritional goodness for gluten-free shoppers.  Consumers will find these products in two locations in stores across the US – the freezer case and in the In-Store Bakery.  The SRP for the breads ranges from $4.99 to $5.49.

Elizabeth Naffziger, Marketing Manager at French Meadow Bakery, said the new breads give gluten-free shoppers variety and added nutritional food options.

“With a growing gluten-free market, we felt it was essential for us to offer some  new great-tasting and nutritional options,” Naffziger said.  “The Multigrain  Bread, a good source of fiber, features the Whole Grain Stamp.  Furthermore, the  availability of our gluten-free breads within the In-Store Bakery department  gives the consumer a ready-to-eat product that doesn’t need thawing.”

Industry reports continue to show the gluten-free market as a growing segment in the all natural and organic foods industry.  According to Packaged Facts, the gluten-free market has grown at an average annual rate of 28 percent since 2004, from $580 million five years ago to $1.56 billion in 2008.  Increased diagnoses of Celiac disease and gluten sensitivities appear to be a major reason for this growth.*
