Galaxy Nutritional Foods Announces the Launch of its Soy-Based Veggie Brand Products
2009-09-24 - Galaxy Nutritional Foods, Inc.

Health-conscious consumers now have a better tasting and smarter choice when enjoying their favorite foods. As the leading provider of cheese alternatives and other natural and organic products, Galaxy Nutritional Foods is rolling out its new and improved soy-based Veggie Slices, which feature a better taste and higher quality ingredients. The new Veggie, which will debut with a fresh look, can be found in the produce section of grocery stores nationwide in October.

Veggie, the No. 1 soy-based cheese alternative, provides an excellent source of calcium without cholesterol, saturated fat, trans fat or lactose. Now boasting an organic soy base and simplified ingredient list, research has demonstrated that five out of seven consumers prefer the new Veggie.

“Veggie provides consumers the opportunity to enjoy the foods they had once forsaken like grilled cheese, quesadillas and macaroni and cheese without feeling guilty,” said Rick Antonelli, Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Nutritional Foods. ”Veggie doesn’t just taste great, it also addresses key health concerns that millions of Americans are struggling with like high cholesterol, obesity and lactose intolerance.”

To support the relaunch of Veggie, Galaxy is implementing a marketing and consumer education campaign, which launched this month with the redesign of GalaxyFoods.com. The new Web site incorporates the brand’s new look and feel, and is coupled with increased functionality, as well as a focus on additional content including recipes, company news and healthy eating tips.  The campaign also includes a full-scale marketing program that illustrates how consumers can enjoy soy-based Veggie in place of cheese as part of a sensible diet.

“When reformulating Veggie, we really listened to what our consumers were looking for in a cheese alternative,” said Hilary Taube, Vice President of Marketing of Galaxy Nutritional Foods. “Veggie tastes even better now, has organic ingredients and still offers the same gourmet melt and benefits as before.”

Veggie is available in slices, shreds, blocks and a grated topping, with flavors including Cheddar, Pepper Jack, American, Swiss, Mozzarella and more.
