National Enzyme Implements "Greener" cGMP Tracking Software
2009-09-03 - National Enzyme Company (NEC)

National Enzyme Company recently upgraded their internal software to a state-of-the-art, digital tracking system that benefits both cGMP tracking and environmentally friendly practices. With an ever changing regulatory environment, the new software allows NEC to measure the manufacturing process from start to finish with a new level of traceability. In addition, NEC’s new software utilizes electronic record keeping which will transition to a “paperless” manufacturing process.

In June, new cGMP standards took effect which caused many manufacturers to question their current processes and look to the future for what to expect. While NEC does not attribute the decision to upgrade to these new standards, they believe the new software offers detailed reporting that will aid cGMP compliancy.

“This new software gives us an edge in GMP compliance because it efficiently gathers even the minutest manufacturing details,” said Jo Ann Peterson, Director of Quality Assurance, National Enzyme Company.

One example of the new process includes a bar coding procedure that monitors every employee involved in a customer’s order. All entries related to a particular manufacturing task are coupled with specific users. In addition, every raw material and component is coded upon receipt and electronically tracked throughout the entire manufacturing process. These are among the numerous built-in safeguards that enable a granular level of record keeping and procedural tracking.

“We anticipate this new software will carry us through our current regulatory environment as well as offer the ability to adapt to any changes which may come our way in the future,” said Peterson.

National Enzyme Company launched their Live Responsibly program last October and the electronic record keeping component of this new software fits in perfectly with this initiative. Not only is NEC concerned about the safety of their manufacturing processes but also the safety of the environment. NEC is proud to live and work responsibly.

Since 1932, National Enzyme Company has been the leader in nutritional enzyme technology. From research and development to marketing support, NEC provides manufacturers and distributors worldwide with comprehensive dietary supplement services while adhering to strict NSF and TGA certified GMPs.
