My Neighbor's Pantry Receives a Visit From Congress
2009-08-09 - National Enzyme Company

Forsyth, MO—My Neighbor’s Pantry; part of National Enzyme Company’s Gift of Hope charity,
received a visit from Eighth District Congresswoman, Jo Ann Emerson. This visit was part of her
annual Farm Tour, where she visits similar entities within her district to encourage the work they are
doing to prevent hunger in their areas.

Jo Ann Emerson is co-chair of the Board of Directors for the Congressional Hunger Center. Her goal
throughout her annual Farm Tour is to discuss some of the challenges facing similar organizations
and to share helpful suggestions based on her experience.

“On the Federal level or even the International level, private voluntary organizations are starting to
work better together, but it’s taken many years,” said Emerson.

Congresswoman Emerson was given a tour of My Neighbor’s Pantry by Catie Myers, Pantry
Manager, and was impressed by the work the Pantry is doing. Myers shared with Emerson that
during the month of July the Pantry was able to feed 1,300 people, including 500 children.
“We are excited to be a part of My Neighbor’s Pantry through Gift of Hope and to have the
opportunity to help people in our community. To have our organization recognized by U.S.
Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson as a worthwhile endeavor validates our desire to make things
better for those who need assistance,” said Myers.

Backed by the employees of National Enzyme Company, Gift of Hope, Inc. has been serving the
needs of children and families in Taney County for over 20 years. Currently Gift of Hope, Inc.
sponsors programs to provide children with school supplies, food and clothing. In addition, Gift of
