Embria Gains CAP-e Certification For Immune Health Ingredient EpiCor
2009-06-17 - Embria Health Sciences

Embria Health Sciences, raw material supplier of science-backed natural ingredients, announced today its compliance with the Certified Bioavailable Antioxidants Program from NIS Labs for its immune health ingredient EpiCor. EpiCor was the subject of the CAP-e antioxidant assay (Cell-based Antioxidant Protection in Erthrocytes), which evaluates the antioxidant potential of natural products, and through clinical testing was found to contain antioxidants that are bioavailable in humans.

"While many natural products contain antioxidant properties, this CAP- e certification gives manufacturers the assurance that EpiCor's antioxidant properties are actually benefitting people, as a series of studies found them to enter into and protect live cells," explained Larry Robinson, Ph.D., Vice President of Scientific Affairs, Embria Health Sciences. "The completion of this antioxidant bioavailability QA program demonstrates not only EpiCor's efficacy, but also Embria's commitment to supplying the natural products industry with research- based, high-quality ingredients."

About Embria Health Sciences and EpiCor:
Embria Health Sciences, www.embriahealth.com, combines science and nature to bring high-quality, research-based natural ingredients to the global human nutrition market. Embria's flagship ingredient, EpiCor(R), is an all-natural product designed to modulate and balance the human immune system and is manufactured using a proprietary technology, which produces vital metabolites, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that deliver nutritional benefits and support increased bioavailability. Recent human clinical studies show EpiCor significantly decreases the incidence of some common symptoms associated with seasonal allergies, and decreases the incidence and duration of cold and flu symptoms. EpiCor has also been shown to possess anti-inflammatory activity, and activates crucial defense cells (Natural Killer, T-, and B-cells). About NIS Labs and CAP-e:
NIS Labs, www.nislabs.com, is a contract research laboratory that focuses on efficient and practical approaches to natural products research. It offers customized protocols that include specific assessment of immunomodulatory properties of natural products as well as an array of standardized tests, including antioxidant capacity and anti-inflammatory effects. It works with cell-based laboratory (in-vitro) tests and perform clinical trials (in-vivo) on the effect of consumption of natural products. The CAP-e assay (Cell-based Antioxidant Protection in Erthrocytes) is a scientific method for evaluating the antioxidant potential of natural products based on the concept that many such antioxidant products are only of biological relevance if they are able to penetrate living cells. For more information on CAP-e, visit www.cap-etest.com.
