Former Presidential Advisor Doug Wead Joins XanGo
2009-05-21 - XanGo, LLC




XanGo, LLC, the mangosteen beverage category creator and market leader, announced today that direct selling icon, former presidential advisor, philanthropist and motivational speaker Doug Wead has joined XanGo as a full-time consultant. Wead brings to XanGo deep experience in direct selling, having been one of the top distributors for Amway for the past 30 years. He previously served as special assistant to the president in the George H.W. Bush White House.

"Doug has played a major role in our industry for more than three decades and throughout this time we as XanGo founders have greatly admired what he has accomplished," said XanGo Founder and Board Member Gordon Morton. "We are excited at what his full-time commitment to XanGo will mean to our distributors. Doug has a strong passion and belief in XanGo's mission and long-term vision, and he will play a key role in helping us transform the world to enable our distributors to experience life the way it should be."

Wead has nearly 35 years of experience as a corporate motivational speaker, addressing business audiences around the world. In addition to his millions of motivational tapes and CDs in circulation, he is also the author of 27 books, including New York Times best-selling titles All the President's Children and The Raising of a President. As of today, the Amway Wikipedia site names only two of its own distributors, Doug Wead being one of them.

Robert S. Wead's background in philanthropy is also a natural fit for XanGo. He was an original organizer of the first International Charity Awards event, hosted by First Lady Rosalynn Carter. In 1979, Wead co-founded the Mercy Corps, which focuses on disaster response, sustainable economic development, health services, and emergency and natural disaster relief, distributing more than $1.5 billion of food and medicine around the world.

Doug and his wife, Myriam, and their five children live in Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.
