InterHealth's UC-II® in New Joint-Health Product from NOW® Foods
2009-03-05 - InterHealth Nutraceuticals Incorporated

InterHealth Nutraceuticals' signature joint health ingredient, UC-II®, will be included in a new stand-alone product from NOW® Foods, award-winning manufacturer and one of the top-selling brands in health food stores. "We are veryexcited to have strengthened our relationship with NOW Foods and to have UC-II® represented by such a respected industry leader," stated Paul Dijkstra, CEO of InterHealth.

"UC-II® offers a completely different approach based on a breakthrough science and understanding of the involvement of the immune system response and inflammatory pathways in the joints that are subject to extensive wear and tear," commented Leonid Ber, MD, Senior Medical Scientist at NOW Foods. "On a personal note, I have been using UC-II® for eight weeks and have found it to make a profound difference in the amount of discomfort in my knee where I developed a secondary osteoarthritis following an old injury." UC-II®, an all-natural patented undenaturedtype II collagen-made and sourced in the United States from chicken cartilage-is backed by clinical data showing that just 40 mg once a day not only increases joint mobility and flexibility but is also more effective than 1500 mg of glucosamine + 1200 mg of chondroitin in promoting joint health.

"Joint health is one of the top condition-specific supplement categories in the United States. The market for dietary joint supplements is almost certain to grow substantially over the next several years," said Dijkstra. According to the Nutrition Business Journal, consumer sales of joint health specific supplements were $1.5 billion in 2007, up 8.8% from the previous year. "At an efficacious 40 mg a day suggested dosage, NOW's UC-II® joint health supplement will be particularly appealing. A small, convenient, once-a-day dosage makes UC-II® easy to take and will help to increase compliance, especially for aging baby boomers and for others who may have difficulty swallowing larger pills multiple times a day. Better compliance will lead to better joint health for millions of people."
