Hero Nutritional Products Contributes Two Days of Vitamin Production to Katrina Victims
2005-09-08 - Hero Nutritional Products

SAN CLEMENTE, CA, September 8, 2005 - Hero Nutritional Products, a leading provider of children's nutritional supplements, dedicated two days of production of the company's Yummi(R) Bears(R) gummy multi-vitamins to donate to the Vitamin Angel Alliance's Hurricane Katrina relief effort.  The Vitamin Angel Alliance is a non-profit organization designed to fight children's malnutrition by providing nutritional supplements to poverty and disaster stricken communities.  Hero will ship thousands of its Multi-Vitamin & Mineral and Vitamin C Yummi Bears, as well as infant formula, crayons and stuffed animals to the Vitamin Angel Alliance, where they will be distributed to children in the Gulf Coast region.

"Families in the Gulf Coast region have lost everything, and many are unable to provide basic necessities such as food and water for their children," stated Jennifer Hodges, founder and CEO, Hero Nutritional Products.  "By donating our Yummi Bears vitamins, we hope to help these children receive the basic vitamins and minerals they need to stay healthy during this time of crisis."

The Vitamin Angel Alliance will supply adult and children's vitamins to help prevent against malnutrition and opportunistic infections among refugees from Hurricane Katrina. The organization has consolidated shipments in Texas and will begin sending vitamins to affected areas this week.

"We are pleased to be working with such a fine organization as the Vitamin Angel Alliance, and will continue to contribute our Yummi Bears vitamins to ensure that victims of Katrina can stay healthy as they get back on their feet over the next few months," added Hodges.

Hero Nutritional Products (www.heronutritionals.com) produces a variety of nutritional supplements for the entire family.  Established in 1996, Hero has maintained a leading position in the children's vitamin and supplement category since 1997.  The company continues to expand its unique supplement offerings to help adults address health concerns such as depleted energy levels, low fruit and vegetable intake, calcium deficiency, as well as numerous factors associated with diabetes and pre-diabetes.  Additionally, Hero has launched a complete line of all-natural pet care products.

Vitamin Angel Alliance is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization dedicated to providing basic nutrition and fighting vitamin A deficiency childhood blindness around the world since 1994.  Last year Vitamin Angels donated 16.2 million supplements to people in need in 45 countries around the world.
