Ground-breaking Study Finds Jamieson's Probiotic Sticks Ease Stress-Related Stomach Ailments
2008-06-17 - Jamieson Laboratories

TORONTO, June 17 /CNW/ - More than 60 million North Americans suffer from gastrointestinal disorders each year.(*) Yet few people recognize the direct link between stress and their stomach complaints - abdominal pain, gas, bloating, nausea and vomiting. Clinical research(xx) demonstrates that Jamieson Laboratories' Probiotic Sticks provide a significant reduction in stomach ailments related to stress.

In a study published in Nutrition Research, researchers tested the effects of Jamieson Probiotic Sticks on 64 stress-induced volunteers. Over a three-week period, half of the subjects received a Probiotic Stick once daily, while the rest received a placebo. Probiotic Sticks provided a 49 percent reduction in two stress-related gastrointestinal symptoms - nausea and abdominal pain.

"The results indicate that Jamieson Probiotic Sticks can reduce gastrointestinal symptoms in individuals with chronic stress," says study advisor Henri Durand. "The patented Probiotic Sticks formula is unique. The active bacteria are microencapsulated, which protects them from gastric acid and ensures they reach the intestinal tract."

Stress and other factors, such as antibiotics, caffeine and alcohol or an unbalanced diet, can deplete normal levels of good intestinal bacteria, causing a variety of problems from an upset stomach and food cravings to disturbances in brain chemistry that disrupt sleep.

Jamieson Probiotic Sticks are made from two clinically tested patented bacteria that support the stomach's microflora and stimulate the body's natural defences. Each single-serving sachet contains one billion cells, the highest active potency on the market. Produced in naturally flavoured red-plum crystals, Jamieson's Probiotic Sticks don't need refrigeration, so you can take them wherever you go.

Jamieson Probiotic Sticks are available in the pharmacy section where you shop. Suggested retail price $19.99.
