ESCONDIDO, Calif. (September 13, 2004) — Compound Solutions™, a leading science-based ingredient supply source for the food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmeceutical industries, is pleased to announce that company CEO Barry Titlow has been appointed committee chairman for the AOAC INTERNATIONAL Coenzyme Q10 Analytical Methods Committee. Mr. Titlow and the AOAC committee are charged with establishing unified analytical methodologies for analyzing CoQ10, including assurance of adequate compliance with the forthcoming Good Manufacturing Practices guidelines (GMPs) for dietary supplement manufacturers. Mr. Titlow will discuss CoQ10 analytical methods at the SupplySide West 2004 International Trade Show being held later this month in Las Vegas, Nev. at the Venetian Hotel. The seminar, entitled “The AOAC Methods Validation Program for Dietary Supplements: Status of Establishing Standards for the Industry,” will take place at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2004.
Mr. Titlow was instrumental in helping to develop the US CoQ10 market, and has extensive experience consulting on its product applications. “I am honored the AOAC chose me to lead this committee. This is a great opportunity to help establish unified industry protocols for the testing of this invaluable and increasingly popular ingredient,” stated Mr. Titlow.
AOAC INTERNATIONAL has been contracted by the National Institutes of Health, in collaboration with the US Food and Drug Administration, to establish validated analytical methods for both bulk and dosage forms of CoQ10. Currently, multiple testing methods are listed in both the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) and Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP) monographs, and various analytical laboratories are utilizing other methodologies.
