SANTA BARBARA, Calif., September 26, 2006 - Vitamin Angels, a non-profit organization designed to fight malnutrition and childhood blindness around the world, today announced that it has been named the United Natural Products Alliance’s (UNPA) first official charitable partnership. As such, UNPA will help raise visibility surrounding Vitamin Angels worldwide efforts to provide vital nutritional supplements to individuals in need, including the organization’s initiative to cure childhood blindness resulting from vitamin A deficiency by the year 2020.
“Vitamin Angels has long represented the humanitarian arm of the natural products industry, and we are happy to name them as our first official charity,” stated Loren Israelsen, executive director, UNPA. “We are excited to support Vitamin Angels and the work they do around the globe to get vital nutrition to children in need. Their work in fighting childhood vitamin deficiency diseases, promoting maternal health, stopping Vitamin A deficiency childhood blindness, and lending support during natural disaster has always been exemplary and we’re honored to lend our support.”
Vitamin Angels recently presented at UNPA’s semi-annual meeting held in August in Salt Lake City, Utah and Loren Israelsen will be speaking at Vitamin Angels’ Celebration of Angels dinner being held during the Natural Products Expo East tradeshow and conference in Baltimore, Md. Additionally, UNPA is urging its members to get involved with Vitamin Angels.
