AOAC INTERNATIONAL, a not-for-profit organization that is helping drive the development of validated analytical methods for the analysis of dietary supplements, holding a number of ingredient specific meetings in conjunction with the NNFA meeting July 14 – 16, 2006 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.  During each of these meetings, you will hear the status of where AOAC is with developing analytical methods for those ingredients, what still needs to be done, and how you can get involved.  We also want to hear from you about new ingredients of interest. 

AOAC is also displaying a poster in the poster exhibit area that lists all the ingredients we are working on and the progress of each ingredient, and we invite you to stop by.

AOAC has been under contract with the National Institutes of Health, Office of Dietary Supplements since September 2001 to develop and validate analytical methods for key dietary supplement ingredients.  During this session, you will get an overview of the project, the methods validated to date, those currently in process, and how some 13 industry Working Groups representing key stakeholders are actively involved in the development of standard analytical methods to level the playing field and raise the quality, safety, and efficacy of the products produced by the dietary supplement community.  You will also have an opportunity to propose new ingredient specific areas that need Working Groups and join in the effort.
