Lacey, WA – January 10, 2006 – Unigen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a leading research and development facility and supplier of proprietary, biologically active plant-derived ingredients to the natural products and pharmaceutical industries, has announced the launch of Soliprin™, a science-based all-natural skin care product. 

Product development involved the screening of 1,230 plant extracts in order to discover natural botanical compounds with the promise of helping protect skin exposed to UV radiation, and internal and environmental toxins.  Unigen launched Soliprin™ at the recently held 9th Annual SupplySide West International Trade Show and Conference in Las Vegas.

Soliprin™ is a blend of two novel plant extracts that have been tested using gene expression, protein inhibition assays, cell-based studies and human clinical trials to provide potent antioxidant activities with an Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) value higher than 19,000, which reflects a potency approximately four-fold that of vitamin C. 
The product has also been shown to modulate prostaglandin and leukotriene pathways and down-regulate cytokine gene expression, resulting in reduction of skin inflammation and an increase of Minimum Erythema Dosage (MED) on humans. Soliprin topical formulations at 0.5% and 1.5% concentrations showed no irritation, sensitization and phototoxicity in human clinical safety trials.

Marcus Laux, Chairman of Unigen’s Scientific Advisory Board and a licensed naturopathic physician, featured Soliprin at a SupplySide West VendorWorks Presentation and highlighted the product’s ability to support healthy aging for the skin and to address minor skin irritation due to the product’s potent antioxidant activities.
