DALLAS, TX, Jun 01, 2006 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Pet Ecology Brands, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: PECB) -- www.petecology.com -- announced today a large increase in international orders, including its first orders from the Netherlands, Singapore and Hong Kong/China. These orders total 4,800 bags of Scientific Professional Cat Litter and follow orders in the last two weeks from distributors located in South Korea and Romania. The Company reports international interest in its various products is well beyond initial expectations.
The Company's new distributor in Singapore, Tri Alba Singapore, directly supplies more than 100 pet and specialty stores in the Singapore area, and more than 60 in Malaysia. Tri Alba Singapore has a documented history of supplying customers with the best pet products, as evidenced by their top-selling Nutro and Kaytee brands and their significant commitment to the Pet Ecology line of products. Tri Alba Singapore ordered a 20-foot shipping container of 1,600 bags of Pet Ecology Brands' revolutionary cat litter. The Company expects to receive regular monthly reorders from Tri Alba of equal size to the initial order beginning within approximately three months of the first shipment, which is when this initial order is expected to be completely disseminated to its retailer base.
Pet Ecology also received an initial order from Pro-Animal, the only unique veterinarian products and pet shop wholesaler in the Netherlands. Pro-Animal reaches more than 1,000 veterinarian practices and 2,000 pet shops throughout the country. Pro-Animal ordered a 20-foot shipping container, containing 1,600 bags of Pet Ecology's Scientific Professional Cat Litter, with regular monthly reorders expected of equal size beginning within the next 90 days. C. Vetapet & Company operates 7 sales offices and distributors in China, and distributes Pfizer, Royal Canin, Petsafe, Dogloo, Evsco and other products to over 700 vet clinics and pet stores in China, Hong Kong and Macau, with annual volumes of approximately HK$ 80 million. C. Vetapet & Company has also ordered a 20-foot container of 1,600 bags of Scientific Professional Cat Litter, with monthly reorders of equal size expected to begin within the next 3 months. Pet Ecology plans to continue its penetration into the international marketplace, fully expecting to receive orders from major distributors in Australia, Finland, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Taiwan, and Turkey by the end of June. Expected orders in June from these distributors should exceed 16,000 bags of Scientific Professional Cat Litter, as well as a significant amount of K-9 Fat Free Dog Treats.
Ralph Steckel, CEO of Pet Ecology, in describing the new orders stated: "We are thrilled with the acceptance of our various products by international distributors, and these initial orders, plus the indication of orders to come during the next 30 days, exceed our initial expectations from the international marketplace for all of 2006. We attribute our unprecedented success to the superior representation of Tradewinds Global, our international agent, in bringing our products to the forefront of the Asian markets, and the hard work of our in-house sales and marketing staff, coupled with the Tradewinds' staff, in the follow through on the initial interest we received through our recent participation at Interzoo. The acceptability of our products in both the domestic and international marketplace by specialty pet retailers and veterinarians is unmistakable, and the next several months should prove very exciting, with additional domestic and international distributors placing their initial orders, and reorders from our existing distributors steadily increasing."
About Pet Ecology Brands Inc. Pet Ecology Brands, Inc. has developed a revolutionary patented cat litter that destroys urine odor, clumps, and is Earth-friendly. Scientific Professional Cat Litter is ultra-lightweight and convenient to use (3lbs works like 21lbs of clay/sand based products); it is 100% flushable and safe for sewer and septic tank systems. It is completely safe for cats and our environment, and does not contain any sodium bentonite, as used in competing brands. The design helps to protect the landfills, and yet does everything that clay litters do... and more. It has the ability to help indicate certain diseases commonly occurring in cats. The technique used is similar to that found in Merck's Veterinarian Manual. However, this litter not only warns of possible illness, but may also help indicate how far along the illness may be by the color the litter changes to, thereby providing the pet owner significant additional benefits and an early warning system concerning the cat's health. Scooplite provides the same benefits as Scientific Professional Cat Litter without the sickness indicator.
Pet Ecology's K-9 Fat Free Dog Treats(TM) are the first fat free treats on the market that meet the standards of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and offer dog owners an effective means to provide their pets with a non-fat tasty treat. They are also cholesterol free and sodium free. According to U.S. News & World Report, "the number one health problem for dogs is obesity." Today, dogs are fed fat rich food and treats, and often get significantly less exercise than required to maintain an ideal weight and healthy condition. Overweight dogs are more prone to serious injury, skeletal stress, and the same complications that people experience with significant weight gain via fat rich diets, ranging from heart and lung problems, to skin and kidney diseases, to circulatory and immune system issues. Vit-A-Dog Fat Free Treats (soon to be available) are enriched with vitamins D & E, and will be available in chicken, beef and liver flavors. Other products anticipated being launched by Pet Ecology Brands, Inc. in 2006 include the first fat free cat treat, a low sodium and low fat microwavable gourmet cat dinner; and two product line extensions for the Scientific Professional Cat Litter line to help indicate feline pregnancy and diabetes.
