MATAWAN, NJ, Feb 03, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- PacificHealth Laboratories, Inc. (PHLI), a leading nutrition technology company, announced that on Tuesday the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office issued patent number US 6,989,171 for the use of carbohydrate and protein in combination for a sports drink. Dr. Robert Portman, CEO of PHLI, said, "This new patent greatly strengthens our proprietary position for the Accelerade Sports Drink and the incorporation of this technology into related products such as a sports gel or bar. This patent is a powerful confirmation of the extensive scientific support demonstrating the superiority of Accelerade over conventional sports drinks."
In the last two years studies from leading university exercise science labs have shown that Accelerade with its patented 4:1 ratio of carbohydrate to protein when compared to a conventional sports drink, improves endurance, reduces muscle damage and speeds muscle recovery after exercise. The most recent study has shown that Accelerade is 15% more effective in rehydrating athletes than the leading sports drink and 40% more effective than water. Based on these extraordinary results it is not surprising that Accelerade has found widespread acceptance and use by athletes in all sports at all levels from the weekend warrior to the professional.

Many factors may cause actual results to differ from forward-looking statements, including inaccurate assumptions and a broad variety of risks and uncertainties, some of which are known, such general economic conditions, consumer product acceptance and competitive products, and others of which are not. No forward-looking statements are a guarantee of future results or events, and one should avoid placing undue reliance on such statements. |
