Purchase, NY (June 7, 2005) – Nutrition 21 has a full slate of education on tap for the NNFA 2005 trade show in Las Vegas, July 15-16, 2005, continuing the company’s campaign to communicate the vast body of science behind the safety and efficacy of its chromium picolinate brand, Chromax®.
On Friday, July 15th Nutrition 21 is sponsoring an educational session entitled How to Enhance Mood, Energy and Reduce Carbohydrate Cravings: The Chromium Connection. The speakers, Jonathan Davidson, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry, Duke University and Director, Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Program, Duke Medical Center; and Malcolm McLeod, M.D., Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, University of North Carolina School of Medicine, will impart the latest clinical data recently presented at the National Institute of Mental Health and American Psychiatric Association scientific conferences. This cutting edge research has provided new evidence supporting Chromax’s role in carbohydrate cravings, mood and energy. Attendees will learn directly from the key researchers about nutritional supplementation with chromium and novel therapeutic applications. The session, held from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Venetian meeting room # 605, is open to all registrants.
One of the presenters, Malcolm Noell McLeod, M.D. who is also the author of the soon to be published book “Lifting Depresion: The Chromium Connection, will be available for questions at the Nutrition 21 booth (# 1018) on Saturday July 16th from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m.
Nutrition 21’s science experts, Dr. Phil Domenico, James Gormley and Dr. James Komorowski will present a poster of the RELATIVE ABSORPTION OF VARYING CHROMIUM COMPLEXES which describes a study done by Ohio State researchers (DiSilvestro & Hy, 2005) who noted that there has been some uncertainty regarding the relative absorption of varying forms of chromium. DiSilvestro and Hy concluded that “[Chromax®] chromium picolinate is better absorbed than other chromium complexes used for supplement purposes.” The posters will be on display in the Sands Convention Center, Lower Lobby Friday July 15 10 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday July 16 8 AM to 7 PM. On Friday from 2 – 4:30 there will be interactive session with the presenters.
