Regiustration information is available at: http://www.nhpresearch.bcit.ca/Toronto2006.html#Registration
This annual conference is the premiere NHP scientific event in North America, showcasing the year’s best original research and providing a critically needed forum for dialogue amongst NHP research stakeholders. The high quality program has drawn strong support from the bio-medical community and industry leaders dedicated to evidence-based products. As a result of overwhelming success in previous meetings, an estimated 400 people will attend the 2006 conference. The core audience of scientists from academia, industry and government, will be joined by a diversity of companies, health professionals, and regulators involved or interested in NHP research, products, and services.
"I have attended hundreds of conferences in the natural products industry and regard the NHPRS annual conference to be a must-attend event," observes Loren Israelsen, Executive Director, Utah Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) "The relevance and quality of presentations are almost without peer. There is no other venue where so many government, academic, agricultural and industry experts come together to exchange news and envision a better, more practical world for natural health products -- and the food is always terrific."
The Program: The “From Concept to Consumer” program will feature an impressive line-up of invited speakers complementing the 60 peer-reviewed research papers.
Speakers: Dr. S. Boyd Eaton, distinguished scientist and author of the Paleolithic Prescription, will give the opening plenary lecture. The world’s foremost authority on NHP toxicology, Dr. Francis Brinker will present the Saturday keynote speech on food-NHP-drug interactions, and the clinical relevance of in vitro research. The evolving scientific evidence requirements along food-NHP spectrum will be examined in special plenary symposia with invited lectures from Jim Kaput (Nutragenomics), Loren Israelsen (UNPA), Beth Yetley (ODS), John Cardellina (NIH), Barbara Schneeman (CFSAN), Steve Dentali (AHPA), Marguerite Klein (NCCAM), Ron Doering, and Bruce Holub. The closing plenary lecture will be delivered by Europe’s grand master of NHP research, Dr. Ezio Bombardelli, the President of the Scientific Board at Indena, the world’s largest producer of standardized botanical extracts in Milan, Italy.
The conference will also feature healthful gourmet food, elegant social events, and an intimate trade show limited to companies supporting rigorous NHP research. The opening reception will provide networking opportunities enhanced by a live jazz quartet and tantalizing canapes. Following cocktails and an epicurean banquet accompanied by a harpist, the gala evening will conclude with research awards and a phytochemistry magic show by McGill University’s renowned chemistry guru, Dr. Joe Schwartz.
The 2006 conference is again supported by Canada’s federal health agency, Health Canada, the U.S. Office of Dietary Supplements, and leading companies committed to NHP research.
