At the end of 6 weeks, total cholesterol levels had decreased, on average, by 4.7 percent, and LDL levels, on average, had decreased by 6 percent in the group who regularly consumed the CocoaVia(R) snack bar formulated with plant sterols.

(October, 18, 2006, Las Vegas, Nevada) A recent study suggests that night vision can be improved by supplementing a diet with lutein and OPTISHARP(TM) brand zeaxanthin from DSM Nutritional Products. The study appeared in Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics, The Journal of the College of Optometrists.
The scientists and researchers at universities in London, Philadelphia and Germany, who published the paper found convincing evidence that participants in the study saw a significant improvement in their ability to see in dim light. Research also suggested that the combination of lutein and OPTISHARP(TM) zeaxanthin improves the image quality at the retina. Zeaxanthin and lutein are the only two carotenoids found in the macula of the eye and growing evidence indicates that zeaxanthin may be the perfect complement to lutein.
Other scientific studies have shown a positive relationship between the consumption of lutein and zeaxanthin and a lower incidence of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
