SAN MARCOS, Calif., July 5, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Natural Alternatives International, Inc. ("NAI") (NAII), a leading formulator and manufacturer of customized nutritional supplements, today announced the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia has completed its audit of the company's Good Manufacturing Practices and recertified its U.S.-based manufacturing facilities. NAI had been seeking this recertification especially in regard to the recent expansion of its California manufacturing facilities.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration ("TGA") is a unit of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. The TGA evaluates new therapeutic products, prepares standards, develops testing methods and conducts testing programs to ensure that products are high in quality, safe and effective. The TGA also conducts a range of assessment and monitoring activities including audits of the manufacturing practices of companies who export and sell products to Australia. www.tga.gov.au
Good Manufacturing Practices often referred to as GMP's are regulatory standards and guidelines establishing necessary processes, procedures and documentation for manufacturers in an effort to assure the products produced by that manufacturer have the identity, strength, composition, quality and purity they are represented to possess.
President Randell Weaver stated, "In the nutritional supplement industry the TGA is one of, if not the most active regulatory and quality control organizations in the world. The TGA completed an extensive audit of our U.S.-based operations to verify our compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and recertified our operations. We are delighted to have independent confirmation of our commitment to quality. Our investments in quality control included in our recently expanded 160,000 square foot facility improves our competitive positioning and supports our long-term growth plans."
CEO Mark Le Doux added, "We believe the recertification of our TGA Manufacturing License will increase the value of the goods and services we provide to our highly valued customers, and assist us in developing relationships with additional quality oriented customers."
