FDA-approved Qualified Health Claim links nuts to reduced risk of coronary heart disease.
San Francisco, Calif.-Maranatha® Nut Butters (www.MaranathaNutButters.com) announces new Heart Healthy certified organic Peanut and Almond Nut Butters, the first products on the market to utilize the Food & Drug Administration’s Qualified Health Claim for nuts.
According to the FDA, scientific evidence suggests that diets including peanuts and almonds, which are low in saturated fat and have no cholesterol, may reduce the risk of heart disease.
Debuting in newly redesigned packaging at this week’s Natural Products Expo in Anaheim, Calif., Maranatha’s nut butters come salted, unsalted, and include all-natural varieties, too. The company will also introduce a 26-ounce ‘Bigger is Better’ Organic Peanut Butter in creamy and crunchy varieties.
These products have zero trans-fat and zero cholesterol. Trans-fats, present in many other commercial nut butters, have been shown to raise LDL cholesterol, increasing the risk of coronary heart disease. Maranatha nut butters are rich in monounsaturated fats (the “good” kind), and are a good source of copper, magnesium, calcium, and folic acid. Additionally, they have no stabilizers, sugars, artificial colors, artificial flavors, or preservatives. They are gluten-free, vegan, and Kosher. The peanut butters are available in 16-ounce and 26-ounce jars, while the almond butters are available in 8-ounce and 16-ounce containers.
