Los Angeles, CA, July 26, 2006 — Every year, more than 42 million American women suffer from a condition called bacterial vaginosis. In addition, over 11 million suffer from bladder infections and more than 20 million from yeast vaginitis. Dr. Gregor Reid, a world renowned researcher in probiotics, is the featured speaker. Originally from Scotland where he obtained a BSc Honors, Dr. Reid holds a Ph.D in Microbiology from Massey University and MBA from Monash University in Australia. After spells at the University of Calgary and the University of Toronto, he is currently Professor of Microbiology and Immunology, and Surgery at The University of Western Ontario in London, Canada. Notably, he is the Director of the Canadian Research and Development Centre for Probiotics, located at the Lawson Health Research Institute. He has published over 285 peer-reviewed papers, mostly on probiotics and urinary tract infections. He holds 28 patents and has presented more than 350 seminars in 33 countries. He has been the Chair of the United Nations/World Health Organization Expert Consultation and Working Group on Probiotics, and has been a reviewer for 62 journals and 28 international agencies (including NIH).
