Los Angeles, CA, November 18, 2005 – Jarrow Formulas®, Inc., a nutrition industry pioneer headquartered in Los Angeles, CA, has donated 20,000 bottles of vitamins – 10,000 each of its Women’s Multi and Kid’s Multi – to the Vitamin Angel Alliance for victims of the recent hurricanes and earthquake.
“The earthquake in Pakistan and Hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma have devastated millions in these regions,” says Peilin Guo, Vice President of Functional Foods for Jarrow Formulas. “Victims suffered unimaginable loss and are at great health risk as well. Children, in particular, are suffering from malnutrition. Inadequate levels of nutrients, especially vitamins and minerals, make children susceptible to debilitating diseases and greatly increase morbidity and mortality.”
The Vitamin Angel Alliance is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization created in 1994 to fight malnutrition and childhood blindness around the world. Vitamin Angel provides health education and nutritional supplements to individuals, families, and communities that are medically underserved or at risk of a specific condition or illness. Nutritional products are donated to the Alliance by an ever enlarging association of Vitamin Angels — a consortium of nutritional supplement manufacturers, distributors, and retailers. These goods are then donated to charitable health care facilities and programs located in countries across the globe including the United States. The Vitamin Angel Alliance responds to the most pressing health concerns identified by the communities requesting assistance.
