PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla., Aug. 4, 2008 – Enzymedica, Inc., announced today that a comparative analysis of its recently launched Free Radical Defenze(TM) antioxidant enzyme supplement received first-place honors in the Scientific Poster Session held Friday, July 18 at The Natural Products Association's Natural MarketPlace 2008 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Titled "Evaluation of a Novel Antioxidant Composition and Comparison with a Vitamin C/Bioflavonoid Formula" and authored by James M. Blum, Ph.D., and Enzymedica president Tom Bohager, the poster derives from a human, randomized, single-blind study conducted over four weeks. Study methods compared Defenze to a high-dose fortified Vitamin C with bioflavonoid, with results indicating Defenze's three-times greater effect to increase levels of glutathione, a principal, naturally occurring antioxidant. In relation, study results indicated Defenze's superior bioavailability to decrease lipid hydroperoxides, thus offsetting further free radical damage.
"Oxidation's bodily stress is a key agent for cell damage, which results in premature aging, a weakened immune system, and may even promote the onset of certain diseases," said Bohager. "As antioxidant foods and supplements gain scientific and consumer credence, Enzymedica is proud to offer an optimal-blend, free radical product backed by recognized study results."
