Sherbrooke Capital Health and Wellness, a private venture capital fund with $101 million of committed equity capital recently announced the appointment of Cory J. Comstock as an Operating Partner. Sherbrooke Capital invests in privately-held product, technology and service companies within the rapidly-growing health and wellness industry. The company's investment focus encompasses functional foods and beverages, nutritional ingredient businesses, prevention and self-care oriented diagnostic product and service companies, healthcare related consumer products, medical information technologies, and drug delivery companies. Sherbrooke investments include Oregon Chai, Izze Beverage, Outside The Classroom, Vetcentric, and Transmedics.
Cory Comstock has broad operational experience with premium branded companies, having held a variety of sales, marketing and operational positions with PowerBar, Odwalla, and most recently Oregon Chai, Inc., the chai tea category leader, where he served as CEO. Oregon Chai was sold in 2004 for $75 million to an international food conglomerate. Cory's experience ranges from managing very high growth revenue models such as PowerBar and Oregon Chai to crisis management during his tenure at Odwalla.
"We have an extensive working relationship with Cory, established over the past six years while he led one of our portfolio companies in the day-to-day operations and ultimately through its successful exit. It was clear to our team that the skill set, industry insight, and experience that Cory demonstrated in growing and developing Oregon Chai would be a great asset to our other portfolio companies and would aid us in spotlighting potential new investments within Health and Wellness," said John Giannuzzi, Managing General Partner. "He is a proven executive who brings a wealth of knowledge surrounding healthy consumables. We look forward to an exciting future with Cory as a Partner and major contributor to our Fund."
As Operating Partner, Cory will be responsible for finding and investigating potential new investments and working with existing portfolio company management teams.
