Following its 2008 acquisition of Medipharm AB, a Swedish Arla Foods subsidiary producing probiotic bacterial solutions for the agricultural and food industries, Chr. Hansen launches an updated animal health and nutrition website which encompasses Chr. Hansen’s total product offering for the agricultural industry - including former Medipharm solutions.
Information tool for the industry “The integration of Medipharm is now completed. This new website is an opportunity for our customers to easily access information on all our products and competencies,” explains Chr. Hansen’s Christoffer Lorenzen, Director, Commercial Development, Animal Health & Nutrition. “Going forward, we expect the web resource to work as a useful and targeted information tool for customers and other professionals with an interest in probiotic feed additives, natural growth promoters, and silage inoculants.”
New organization in place Founded in 1973 Medipharm had been involved in researching, developing and producing microbial products. The company had production sites and sales offices in Sweden, the US, Hungary and the Czech Republic as well as a sales office in Slovakia.
Today, Medipharm’s production has been integrated into Chr. Hansen production sites and the ex-Medipharm sites in the US, Sweden and Hungary have been closed down. The production site in the Czech Republic has been reorganized and now functions as an integrated production/sales/marketing unit and technology centre, charged with the task of expanding Chr. Hansen’s Animal Health business in Eastern Europe.
Extended product range The Medipharm products have extended Chr. Hansen’s product range, including the important branded products, the probiotic feed additive LACTIFERM and silage inoculant LACTISIL, which means that Chr. Hansen’s product portfolio is one of the strongest and most documented in the market for feed additives and silage inoculants.
Chr. Hansen plans to also launch an Animal Health & Nutrition website in Portuguese and Czech language.
