There is a backlash in the UK against proposed EU directives which would ban outright or reduce dosage allowances on vitamin products. The directives, designed to standardize the UK and European markets, were defeated in a House of Lords vote but appear to be pressing forward despite vocal opposition. If passed and implemented, the legislation would require that hundreds of vitamin products would no longer be on British shelves, others would require prescriptions.
