FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Blauvelt, NY, March, 2006 - American BioSciences, Inc., manufacturer and distributor of high quality nutritional supplements for immune system health for men, women and children, as well as for canine health, received another honor this year when they were selected as one of three finalists in the natural health industry to compete for Nutracon’s prestigious 2005 NutrAward at Anaheim trade shows, Wednesday, March 22nd through Sunday, March 26th, 2006. The company landed in the top three companies in the industry for introducing the United States marketplace to Ave™, the only supplement in this country to contain the unique nutrient from Hungary, Avemar.
The three top finalists were chosen by a distinguished panel of key industry experts, scientists, researchers and nutritionists. They utilized a specific set of six (6) major criteria: Scientific Merit, Efficacy, Safety, Innovation, Market Potential, and overall Increase in Industry Creditability. As reported in the March issue of Functional Foods & Nutraceuticals, the NutrAward is given every year to “innovative, evidence-based health and nutrition ingredients and products on the basis of scientific merit, efficacy, market potential, safety, innovation, and ability to increase market credibility.” The winners will be selected based on a combination of the expert committee’s assessment/valuation of how well the ingredient or product meets the defined criteria, along with the LIVE VOTE by all of the attendees at Nutracon 2006 and SupplyExpo 2006, and Expo West.
Avemar is made from wheat germ, fermented by baker’s yeast through a patented process standardized for di-methoxy-substituted benzoquinones (DMBQ). Hungarian scientist Dr. Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, recipient of the 1937 Nobel Prize, initiated development of the naturally occurring compound DMBQ, theorizing that it would help regulate cellular metabolism and support immune system regulation. Hungarian scientists, led by Dr. Mate Hidvegi, later discovered that fermented wheat germ was a perfect source for obtaining standardized levels of DMBQs. Avemar has been the subject of more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and shown to support cell metabolic regulation in vulnerable cells and to promote immune system modulation resulting in both healthy cellular and humoral immune system balance. These studies describe in vitro, in vivo, and human clinical trials involving hundreds of patients.
David Wales, President of American BioSciences stated, “It is an honor for us to be acknowledged by the distinguished Nutracon panel as one of the top three companies in the natural health industry to be considered for this major annual prize: The 2005 NutrAward. It’s wonderful that we’ve made it through the panel’s thoughtful scrutiny, and are being recognized by the natural health industry for the years of work that it took us to discover, and then get approved with GRAS status for Avemar. American BioSciences has an ongoing commitment to develop the best natural supplements possible, based on substantial scientific and medical research.” |
