Washington DC, September 22, 2005 – The 11th Annual Socially Responsible Business Awards were presented on Friday September 16, 2005 at the Renaissance Hotel, Washington DC. This annual free event, held in conjunction with Natural Products Expo East, honors the highest human ideals applied to business practices. 2005 SRBA winners include: NOW Foods, Inc., Dan Richard, National Sales Manager accepting, Suzanne Shelton, president Shelton Group PR presenting; Organic India (distributed in the US by OM Organics). Steven Bookoff. accepting, David Taylor, NNFA president presenting; Dr. Bronner’s, David Bronner, Trudy Bronner and Michael Bronner accepting, Adam Eidinger, OG Consumers Association, presenting; and Dagoba Chocolates, Frederick Schilling accepting, SBRA organizer Jill Ettinger presenting.
All four winners are companies with exceptional track records in ethics, accountability, governance, employment practices, business relationships, financial return, products and services, community involvement and environmental protection.
The keynote speaker was Seth Goldman, president and TeaEO, of Honest Tea. Other speakers included Jeff Klein, Cause Alliance Marketing, who outlined the Celebrate Peace program and Howard Schiffer, Vitamin Angel Alliance, to whom a special award was presented by the event master of ceremonies Gurudhan SIngh Khalsa, national sales manager of Golden Temple Bakery and related companies.
“Each year this event inspires a renewed commitment to making a difference in the world through our business practices,” said Khalsa. “The stories from the award winners and speakers are heart felt and moving. It's my favorite part of Natural Products Expo East. Every business person in the world could learn from these examples.”
This annual, non-profit, breakfast event is sponsored by Golden Temple Bakery, the manufacturer of Peace Cereals; by Sunshine Spa and Soothing Touch Health and Beauty Products; and by the Yogi Tea Company.
